Preclinical Capabilities

Biology Our extensive in vitro and in vivo preclinical biology capabilities cover the full spectrum from early screening to state-of-the-art translational research, supported by a highly qualified team of 130 scientists. In vitro competencies include high-throughput functional and binding assays, automated electrophysiology and high-content imaging on recombinant and native cell systems. Our DMPK and toxicology-safety pharmacology capabilities enable detailed characterization of in vitro metabolism, in vivo pharmacokinetics, and preclinical risk assessment across multiple species. We place great emphasis on translational relevance through advanced models such as iPSC-derived human neurons, touchscreen-based behavioral methods, and non-human primate studies, ensuring a better prediction of clinical outcomes.

Chemistry
Our chemistry organization integrates medicinal, process, and analytical chemistry with advanced computational and structural biology capabilities. With nearly 200 professionals across research and development, we leverage AI-supported molecular design, modeling tools (e.g., Schrödinger suite), and structure-based approaches (CryoEM, X-ray) to accelerate discovery. We maintain a proprietary compound library of over 180,000 CNS-focused molecules and operate high-throughput screening and fragment-based discovery platforms. Strong synthetic expertise, modern analytical infrastructure, and pilot plant capabilities - including GMP-scale production - enable seamless progression from lead identification to clinical candidate and process development, supported by efficient scale-up and lifecycle management.

Clinical Capabilities

Our capabilities in clinical development and clinical operations span full development, from early strategy to late-phase execution. We have expertise in indication selection, clinical program design, and translational medicine, and integrate insights from external experts and our Medical Affairs colleagues to maximize regulatory and commercial success. Operationally, we have experience across all clinical phases, including first-in-human studies and large Phase III trials, supported by robust in-house functions such as clinical supply, data management, biostatistics, and clinical monitoring. This integrated setup allows us to efficiently design, execute, and oversee complex clinical programs both independently and in partnership.

 

License-out

We are seeking for a U.S.-based co-development and commercial partner with a strong presence in the U.S. market for our standalone programs in clinical phase, latest by proof of concept.

License-in

We are looking for:

  • Innovative, late-stage development programs (approaching registration) or already registered products for distribution in our traditional territories (Central-Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States). 
  • Early research-phase projects (preferably prior to lead optimization) targeting the treatment of negative, affective, positive, and cognitive symptoms, with a focus on schizophrenia, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depression.

R&D collaboration:

  • We are seeking for research and development collaborations from scratch to in early development phase projects, offering our worldwide recognized research capabilities that already have provided the basis of multiple successful original drugs.
